To help your child identify letters and practice hand and finger control
This activity focuses on the written symbols of letters. Children can practice identifying letters in capital letters, lowercase letters, or both. We can also encourage them to practice hand and finger control in a variety of ways in this activity. Let’s do it.
What you’ll need
- Scissors
- Double-sided Tape
- Craft Tweezer
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Wooden Clothespins
- Paper Food Tray
- Rainbow Rice
How to Set Up
- Print the Chanafavors printable file. Cut out ice cards and penguin cards. Print additional copies if needed.
- Stick the penguin on the jumbo stick and fish on the clothespin with double-sided tape. Hide the fish in the rice bowl.
How to play
- Place penguin and ice cards in front of your child. Show how to place the ice under the matching penguin.
- Place the rice bowl in front of your child. Show how to find the fish. Once found, read the letters aloud and take out the fish with jumbo tweezers.
- Clip the fish on the matching penguin jumbo sticks.
Tip
- For younger children, you can introduce 1-3 pairs first. Observe your children and add more pairs as they are more confident in identifying the letters.
