Doors to Numbers

To help children recognize numbers 1 to 9 and relate the numbers to quantities

This activity helps children focus on numbers 1 to 9 and encourages them to recognize the numbers. Children guess the numbers behind each door, count the pictures and relate numbers to quantities. Repeatedly coloring the same numbers also helps to remember better. Let’s do it.

What you’ll need

  • Cutter Knife
  • Cutting Mat
  • Ruler
  • Hole Punch
  • Yarn
  • Crayon Colors

How to Set Up

  1. Print the Chanafavors printable file.
  2. Cut in half every sheet. Cut the glass door off with a cutter. Use a hole punch to punch the sides of each sheet.
  3. Arrange the pages in order: doors, numbers with pictures, and numbers in bubble circle and bind the book with yarn.

How to play

  1. Recommend books that are busy with your child. Have the child turn over a page and ask them what number they think is hidden behind the door.
  2. Have the child turn over the page to see if they are correct. Ask them if they can count the pictures.
  3. Have the child turn over another page and paint on the bubbles with the same numbers. Repeat the steps with the next numbers.
