To practice hand-eye coordination and improve visual skills through play
In this 4-in-1 activity, children practice hand-eye coordination by scraping black sheep, matching sheep and wool with rubber bands, pulling wool yarn, and matching sheep-colored cards. Visual skills are crucial for reading, writing, and daily activities. Let’s do this.
What you’ll need
- Adhesive Tape
- Whiteboard Markers
- Cardboard
- Push Pins
- Rubber Bands
- String
- Scissors / Glue
- Toilet Paper Rolls
How to Set Up
- Print the Chanafavors printable file.
- Scratch Off: Coat the sheet with a clear sticker and paint over the sheep with a black whiteboard pen to cover the colors.
Sheep & Wool: Stick the sheet on the cardboard and pin on the marked positions. - Color Name: Glue the white sheep sheet on top of the colored sheep sheet and cut out 12 cards.
Yarn Roll: Make a hole in the center of the large sheep. Thread the end of the yarn through the hole and tape it in the back of the image. Pull the other end forward and attach it to the roll of tissue paper with clear tape. Pull the yarn and place it on the sheep like wool.
How to play
- Scratch Off: Invite your child to scrape the black paint off with a cotton swab to see the inside color.
Sheep & Wool: Place the color matching sheet in front of your child. Point to the first sheep and ask if they can name the color and find the same wool. Have the child string the rubber band on the two pins to match. Repeat for all colors. - Color Name: Bring a card to light a flashlight or lamp, show your child what color it is and read the color name. Repeat with the remaining cards.
Yarn Roll: Show how to wind the yarn slowly and let your child try it out on their own. Repeat if needed.
