Another activity from the kitchen. Chemical reactions are exciting for children, and baking soda and vinegar always do the trick. It creates a small amount of carbon dioxide to inflate the bag. This will get their attention and curiosity to learn. Let’s do it!
What you’ll need
- Chanafavors Free Printables
- Freezer Bag
- Permanent Marker
- Baking Soda
- Vinegar
How to Set Up
- Print the template from the Chanafavors Free Printable file. Put a freezer bag on top of the template and draw a snowman face with permanent markers.
- Put some baking soda in the bag. Then place a small cup of vinegar in the bag.
- Close the bag and be careful not to mix them all together yet.
Tips
*In this experiment, freezer bags are better than zip bags because they lock tighter. The pressure lasts longer and the bag inflates longer.
*After inflating, the pressure gas will push the bag open. If you want to delay it, add less vinegar than baking soda so children can shake the bag for fun before it popped.
Safety
Adult supervision is required for any activity presented by CHANA and Chanafavors.
